Adam Hills is one of Australia’s best known comedians, mainly as the four time Gold Logie nominated host of his two hit ABC TV series – the music quiz show Spicks and Specks and his unique take on the late night talk show, Adam Hills In Gordon Street Tonight.
Spicks and Specks was ABC TVs highest rating program for seven years and was the anchor for its highly successful Wednesday night comedy line up. Adam Hills In Gordon Street Tonight premiered in 2011. Filmed at the iconic Gordon Street studios in Melbourne the show mixed celebrity guests including Whoopi Goldberg and KD Lang with audience engagement, elevating everyday people to celebrity status. Gordon Street returns in 2012 with its second season.
When Adam isn’t dominating the Australian TV landscape he is usually somewhere in the world with a mic in hand doing his day job - globe trotting stand up comedian.
Having been nominated for its top gong three times, Adam is a favourite at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the biggest comedy festival in the world, often topping sales and always bagging rave reviews. Generally based in London for the second half of the year Adam tours the UK, Ireland and Europe as well as taking out time to perform at the world class Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival where he has performed more times than any other.
In amongst this he's won a prestigious Helpmann Award, released three best selling stand up DVD's and had his own one hour stand up special on ABC TV. He has performed to the Queen, alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Lady Gaga and Bette Midler. Adam hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Paralympics for ABC TV, a role he will be taking on again for the 2012 London games.
Adam did his first ever stand up gig on his 19th Birthday, and in July 2010 Adam spent his 40th Birthday and 21st anniversary of stand up comedy on stage at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne doing what he loves - bringing his unique, uplifting brand of comedy to another 900 people reprising his hit show Inflatable and marking the occasion by recording another DVD which was released in Australia in March 2011 and in the UK latein October 2011.
In 2011, Spicks and Specks finished up on a high note after 7 years and 277 episodes on air at the ABC, so in late 2011 and early 2012 Adam, Alan and Myf embarked on a huge national farewell arena tour of Spicks and Specktacular, performing to almost 80,000 fans around the country.
"Hills delivers stand up so effortlessly brilliant you wonder why some comedians even get out of bed" The Guardian, London
“If you cannot enjoy Adam Hills you cannot have a pulse. Four Stars” The Scotsman
“Hills’s wit is incisively dry and sharp and his observations are bitingly precise” Sunday Herald Sun
“[his] interaction with the audience proved so fruitful that they were reluctant to release him back on to the stage”
    The Scotsman
“an Adam Hills show is always a festival highlight…with real weight, wit and purpose behind his contagious positivity”
